I had the pleasure of dining at História Cantina and was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The vibe is cozy yet vibrant, and the service was warm and attentive from start to finish. I tried the scallops, Mexican street corn, warm olives and bread, beef tacos, and wrapped it up with the churro bits and caramel for dessert. The standout for me was hands-down the Mexican street corn — bursting with flavour, perfectly charred, and honestly, I could have eaten a whole bowl of it. The scallops were also a highlight — beautifully cooked and seasoned with bold, authentic spices. The beef tacos, while generous in portion, were a bit underwhelming. The shells lacked seasoning, and the pulled beef, though tender, was on the dry side and overpowered the other ingredients. The biggest miss was the non-alcoholic margarita — unfortunately too sour and unbalanced to enjoy. Still, I’d definitely go back. The quality of the food overall was solid, and the Mexican street corn and dessert alone make it worth the visit. A great local spot to explore if you’re in Schomberg!
Historia Cantina offers a fantastic dining experience with delicious food, creative drinks, and a vibrant atmosphere. The dishes are full of flavor, and the cocktails are the perfect complement. The staff is friendly, making it an all-around great spot to enjoy a meal and unwind. Highly recommended!
We had such a great time at Historia Cantina! The hostess and our server were incredibly friendly and gave us some awesome recommendations that really made the experience even better. I ordered the Braised Beef Birria Tacos and they were unreal, so tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. I added the jalapeño salsa, and it gave the tacos an extra kick without being too spicy, just added a really nice depth. The consommé dip on the side was perfect for dipping. My boyfriend got the Brazen Beef Sandwich and absolutely loved it. The beef was rich and flavourful, and the pretzel bun held everything together perfectly. Every bite was loaded with texture and taste, crispy, cheesy, and just really satisfying. Our friend went with the chicken tacos, she said they tasted great, but the tortilla got a bit soggy, so she ended up eating it more like a taco bowl. Still, she was happy with it! We also shared the seared scallops to start, they were delicious and beautifully cooked, but the portion felt a bit small for the price. The drinks were amazing. I had the Beach Day Margarita and it honestly tasted like a boozy version of the Starbucks Pink Drink, in the best way possible. Super refreshing and fun. Highly recommend this spot, great food, great service, and great vibes. Definitely one of the best places to eat in Schomberg!
Fell upon this gem by accident tonight. Greeted warmly upon entering and headed to a booth seat. We started with some Calamari and recommended Mexican Street corn …so happy we did. Followed with The Birria Tacos and the Cantina Beef sandwich….absolutely delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. We did not have a reservation but could see how you would need one a steady flow of friendly seemed repeat customers. Great Place.
Stopped by for lunch and sat in the back patio under cool shade on a hot day! Great seats looking over a creek! Fish Tacos were delicious but the shells were a little tough to chew. Great flavours though. My buddy had the Margarita and said it was really good! Welcomed by two amazing ladies with great smiles. Expensive menu, but would return for sure.
First time ordering from this place. Food and service was very good. The quality and taste was fantastic. The Bang Bang shrimp taco and beef birria tacos are not to be missed.
I took my friend here for her birthday , it was a first time for us both …but definitely not the last . We absolutely loved it . Everything was a 5+++++ . The food, the service , the atmosphere . We had the seafood dip and a Caesar salad which was delicious and the fish and chips was next level !, They use the freshest of ingredients …. and you can definitely taste the difference . Oh and the margaritas were yummy too . One of the owners came by to introduce herself and ask how everything was. Don’t see that too often.. So happy to have found this gem . Cannot wait to share with family and friends .Cant wait to be back to enjoy the patio Historian Cantina is a definite must !!!
What a wonderful experience to sit on a breezy riverside patio under the trees on a warm summer evening. Three of us shared the beef, chicken and fish tacos. They were all flavourful and filling! The street corn appetizer is excellent too. The staff are familiar with gluten allergies and careful about cross contamination. Lots of GF choices. We were also pleased to discover that the patio is dog friendly, with a side entrance.
